Odd Apple Radio is a modern version of a 70's era psychedelic concept-album by the likes of Frank Zappa, Pink Floyd, The Who, and Funkadelic. Its elaborate sound-design could be considered akin to WNYC's "Radio Lab" program. It's fun, funky and memorable… “I had a crazy dream that I was producing a record with Phish and Beck… I was listening to a lot of “Rift” and “Midnight Vultures” at the time. When I woke up I started recording the rudimentary ideas from that dream, which later became “Odd Apple Radio”. Most of the sound design was comprised from radio sounds that I captured on a field recorder. I’d sit on my Brooklyn rooftop or stoop, in the middle of the night, combing through an eclectic mix of radio signals on an old 70’s transistor handheld that belonged to my dad… I found out that a lot of noises can be musical, just like a lot of music can be noise… There is only one or two “library tracks” used in the sonic tapestry of this record, the rest was made from these sounds. Living in NYC, after the skyline changed forever in 2001, and before it stood tall again in 2013, was certainly an odd time… This musical effort encapsulates those years for me, while being underscored by an imaginative dream I had of musical explorers collaborating together with me at the helm, ha ha ha. Always, hopefully musical”. - JC Lippi

Beck and Jimi Hendrix vs. The Beatles in a psychedelic game of Pictionary

"Brooklyn-based musician and producer Juano Lippi was born with some wizardry inside: Divinity meets the Devil. A former member of the jam band Karmic, Lippi does everything, from the writing to the vocals, all guitars, percussion, keyboards, and bass. His lineup (on the CD) includes Rik Mercaldi (lap steel, electric guitar, vocals), Ryan Cavan (drums), Bruce Macpherson (piano), and Noah Wheeler (bass). The title "All the Way Home," from Lippi's 2008 release In Many Rooms, shows a fast-handed and versatile new guy in town" - Phil Ramone - Dog Ears Music Vol. 60 - The Huffington Post

"Is this a brilliant hybrid or the workings of a busted brain?" - Michael Molenda - Guitar Player Magazine
